Bargaining Team Update for UW/HMC, UWPM

The UW/Harborview and separate UW Police Management bargaining teams met Nov. 6 at the union’s Seattle Field Office to begin looking at proposals for the 2015-2017 contracts. “The teams are dedicated to support each other at the table and in the workplace,” the team reports. This session focused on proposals from Local 1488 members. The teams identified some high-priority issues, including issues of compensation, discipline, commuting costs, training and education. The team also dealt with proposals already covered by the contract; team members and stewards will contact those members to enforce their existing contract rights. “This should not only resolve the problem, but also build union strength.”
