Bargaining update



The Evergreen State College Student Services Support Staff Bargaining Team at its latest session (Feb. 12) reached no tentative agreements but is very close to resolving issues around hiring practices and hours of work.

But the team sent a clear message that management’s compensation proposal is unacceptable. This comes after TESC President Les Purce on Feb. 5 emailed staff indicating that unrepresented, highly compensated exempt staff will receive a 3 percent and 1 percent increase over the next biennium, contingent upon legislative funding. At the Feb. 12 bargaining session, the Federation team received an offer of 2.25 percent and 1 percent over the same biennium, further increasing the compensation gap between line-level and management staff at TESC.
