52214rUNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON/HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER CONTRACT AGREEMENT REACHED

The University of Washington Bargaining Team reached tentative agreement Friday afternoon (Sept. 26) on their new contract that will take effect July 1, 2015, and run through June 30, 2017.

It includes pay raises totaling 5 percent over the two years of the agreement.

The UW Bargaining Team voted to recommend ratification.

MAJOR GOALS ACHIEVED:

Major goals achieved in tough economic times include:
•    3% increase in 2015
•    2% in 2016
•    Guaranteed increases for those making less than $12 per hour
•    Additional increases for six classifications
•    FMLA problem solved!

MORE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE UW TENTATIVE AGREEMENT:

Article 6- Joint Union/Management Committees
•    Participants will experience no loss in pay for attending premeetings

Article 10- Employee Rights
•    Greater protection for securing representation
•    Travel time included for union sponsored event

Article 22- Personnel Files
•    Removal of all Corrective Action based on retention schedule

Article 23- Corrective Action
•    Increased protections prior to an issuance of formal counseling
•    Once a corrective action has been removed from an employee’s file the information will not be used in subsequent corrective actions

Article 27 – Holidays
•    Language added to reflect up to two days per year of unpaid holiday leave shall be granted for reasons of faith and conscience.   Unpaid holiday leave will not impact seniority, trial service or probationary periods.  Members will also be given the opportunity to use accrued leave for the holiday.
Article 31- Family Medical Leave Act and Parental Leave
•    Employees who receive time loss may elect to receive time loss exclusively without being required to take accrued paid leave.
Article 35 – Miscellaneous Paid Leave
•    Added protection for domestic violence victims
•    Increased flexibility for bereavement leave
Article 36- Military Leave
•    Added protections for employees with family in the military

Article 53- Commute Trip Reduction and Parking
•    Departmental consideration for flexible work schedule requests based on operational needs.
Article 41 and 60 – Compensation
•    3% across the board increase effective 7/1/15
•    2% across the board increase effective 7/1/16
•    Guaranteed increases for those making less than $12 per hour.
•    Additional increases for six classifications
