Supplemental bargaining in General Government (on agency-specific issues):

• Parks. The Parks Supplemental Bargaining Team met March 17 to organize and prepare for the first bargaining meeting with management. The team reviewed responses to the supplemental surveys (there were 65 responses with good feedback to guide the team through the coming meetings!). The team also finalized agency-specific proposals to present to management. On March 31, the team had its first bargaining meeting with management and presented proposals and answered questions. The team is scheduling subsequent bargaining dates toward the end of this month to hear management’s response to the proposals presented on March 31 and any new proposals from management.

• Agriculture. The Federation’s Agriculture Supplemental Bargaining Team met with management March 28 and presented its proposals to be included in the next contract. Management indicated they would not be presenting any additional proposals. Both sides meet again April 22 to receive and negotiate their initial response to our proposals.

• Liquor Control Board. The union’s LCB Supplemental Bargaining Team met with management March 31. The team presented its proposals and had a lively discussion with plenty of examples of how our proposals would improve working conditions for liquor enforcement officers. Management will present its proposals when bargaining resumes April 18. They’ll also reply to the union’s team initial proposal.

• Ecology. The WFSE/AFSCME Ecology Supplemental Bargaining Team got the kind of grassroots support when they negotiated March 31: Ecology staff at the Northwest Regional Office in Bellevue donned AFSCME Green t-shirts in a show of support for their team negotiating agency-specific issues.
