Don Hall, a park ranger with State Parks (Local 1466) and union treasurer on Friday sent us this image of the wildfire as it closed in on Alta Lake State Park near Pateros. Hall was standing at what is now considered Ground Zero for the devastating Carlton complex wildfire — just one of many in Central Washington.

The Seattle Times reports:” The Carlton complex wildfire in Central Washington, which by Saturday evening had expanded to just over 215,000 acres, or about 336 square miles, is still blazing nearby. But it has left Pateros and nearby Alta Lake as the ground zero of its destruction, having destroyed dozens of homes.”

• Foundation for Working Families

The relief fund started by the Federation during the 2007 floods morphed into the Foundation for Working Families administered by the Washington State Labor Council. The Federation is a major contributor to that fund that has made a major difference in the lives of members who’ve lost possessions, homes and loved ones.

If you have been harmed by the current wildfires or know of a member who has, you can information on how to apply for financial help to recover.
