The Evergreen State College Classified Staff reach contract settlement

The Federation bargaining team for the Classified Staff at The Evergreen State College in Olympia at 5:49 a.m. Tuesday morning (Sept. 16) reached tentative agreement on their 2015-2017 contract. Here are highlights:


  • 3% raise on 7/1/15 and another 1% on 7/1/16
  • A “me-too” agreement with General Government for other across the board increases and salary survey
  • Wage re-opener language in the event of enrollment recovery
  • Additional 5% compensation for Campus Police Officers assigned FTO/PTO duties
  • Callback eligibility for law enforcement
  • Step M becomes a permanent step to which employees covered by the contract would move to one year after Step L.

Other improvements:

  • Vacation Leave: Increase leave accrual rates for employees with 20 through 24 years = 15 hrs/mo; 25 years and beyond = 15hrs, 20 mins/mo
  • Miscellaneous Paid Leave: Preserved both Personal Leave days and removed sunset language
  • Suspended Operations: Hour for hour paid leave in addition to 1 1/2 pay for working during first day of suspended operations
  • Union Activities: Full paid release for up to 8 bargaining team members for up to 10 days.

TESC Classified Staff members should watch for more ratification details online and in the mail on the tentative agreement and the ratification vote.
