Update: Eastern State Hospital and comp time

ESH.112114zastern State Hospital workers were given a “feather” Monday (Nov. 24) by management at the end of our demand-to-bargain meeting.  After a long day of talking about compensatory (comp) time and a few other subjects, Eastern State Hospital workers were given back Thanksgiving and Heritage Day as comp time earning opportunities.  ESH has not had comp time-earning capabilities since March of this year.  The members at ESH are happy to have this choice back.  As we would love to have comp time reinstated fully, this was a step in the right direction.  We are set to go back to the table on Dec. 8 for more discussion around comp time and other issues.

Right now we are working on gathering information from the membership for management’s current offer on the table of reinstating comp time for five holidays for the 2015 calendar year.  We will keep working hard to make gains on our comp time issue. Stay tuned.
