UW Bargaining Update

University of Washington. The UW Bargaining Team met again Aug. 27 for a very frustrating session.  The team reports: “We made our first “package proposal” in an attempt to move non-economic items and bargain a contract for our members.

While management thanked us for our “hard work,” they had a couple of issues with our package proposal.  In the end we left the door open but were unable to bargain further.

“At our next session Sept. 5, management will present for the first time data from the Milliman salary study they commissioned.

We are down to money time and will be calling on all members to get involved and stay informed- sign the petitions, be ready to attend a rally, and continue to press for a fair contract that respects our value as the workforce that keeps the UW running for students and faculty. We are also starting to develop a plan for ratification when we reach agreement.  We want to provide the best chance for everyone to be informed and understand the agreement as presented.”
