The UW Police Management Bargaining Team kicked off negotiations Wednesday (June 4). Both sides agreed on ground rules and the Federation team presented its initial contract proposals to management that open seven articles, including on payroll deductions for the AFSCME Public Safety Protection Program legal defense program, and on a few other working conditions; one tentative agreement was reached. They also agreed on a timeline for submitting new proposals and a deadline for economic issues. The team will present its compensation package at a later date. Management will provide paid release time for the first eight sessions of bargaining.
