UW/HMC and UW Police Management hold last prep sessions

The University of Washington/Harborview Medical Center Local 1488 contract team held the last preparation session on Monday (April 28) at the Federation’s field office in Georgetown. Both the UW/Harborview team and the UW Police Management team met to finalize proposals.  Both teams worked hard and put finishing touches on their respective initial proposals and began drafting ground rules to exchange with management.

The UW/Harborview team is gearing up for bargaining, which will begin May 21st.

The UWPM team begins bargaining with management on June 4th.

Another focus item at this session was building a contract campaign. The teams say: “We need the UW to see that this is about ALL the members, not just those of us on the team, or the officers and board members. We are planning work place actions across campus.  There will be events/rallies/lunch and learn sessions, and other events going on the entire time we are bargaining.  Please be on the lookout for flyers and information as it becomes available.”

The contract campaign is a part of the statewide WFSE Spring effort. Local volunteers and staff will be meeting one-on-one with fee payers to encourage them to become full – and actively engaged — members. This increases our clout at the table and improves the final contract.
